Refrigerated Trailers, Freezer Trailer & Commercial Freezer Trailers
What’s the Difference Between a Freezer Trailer and a Commercial Freezer Trailer?
A “commercial freezer trailer” is essentially the same as a “freezer trailer,” but the term “commercial” emphasizes that the trailer is designed for heavy-duty use in commercial settings like food distribution, meaning it has a more robust refrigeration system and is built to withstand frequent loading and unloading, unlike a standard freezer trailer which might be used for smaller scale operations. For example the King Cool has dual 3500 lb axles whereas the commercial freezer trailer has dual 5,000 lb axles or larger.
What is the Difference between a Freezer Trailer and a Refrigerated Trailer?
A refrigerated trailer won’t freeze. Freezer trailer need a larger, more powerful, compressor along with a defrost system both of which increase the cost. The refrigerated trailer use a window air conditioner, which actually put out more BTU’s than some of the freezer units. That refrigeration unit will actually recover faster because it just puts out a lot more air at a “warmer” temp.
